Weather Data

Roles: Compiler, Community Engagement Leader, Regional Editor

Weather data is part of the official count report. Although the data is pre-populated, review the imported weather data for accuracy and update it as needed.

From your Count Data screen, you can access the Weather data by clicking Edit in the Weather box. A dialog box displays weather details. Weather details for circles is prepopulated with data from local weather data services:

  • United States: National Weather Service (primary)

  • Canada: Environment and Climate Change Canada (primary)

  • Fallback/augmentation: Global Historical Climatology Network daily and Open‑Meteo

All three of these services provide station-based weather observations. NWS is the primary source for U.S. circles, while ECCC is primary for Canadian circles. If the primary source has no usable data for a circle and count date, the platform can fall back to GHCND. If station-based data remains unavailable, the system will use Open‑Meteo to provide a location-based weather estimate.

NOTE: Your account's measurement system is set in your profile and, by default, is based on your location, as shown below. You can change this setting in your profile at any time. To learn how to edit your profile, see here.

  • Located in the United States: Imperial System – feet, pounds, miles, Fahrenheit

  • Located outside of the US: Metric system – meters, grams, kilometers, Celsius

You can adjust or edit any pre-populated weather data as needed. If making any changes, please reflect the predominant condition for the day or for AM/PM.

Click Save Changes to save your edits.
