The Christmas Bird Count takes participant privacy seriously. As a National Audubon Society program, we follow Audubon's privacy policy and terms of use.
Online Registrations:
When you register for the CBC through our online system, your contact information is shared with:
Your local count leader(s) – for the specific circle(s) you registered for.
Audubon CBC staff – to provide you with CBC updates and resources only.
Note: Your CBC registration does not automatically add you to other Audubon communication lists. However, you can opt in to additional communications if you wish. Canadian participants can also choose to receive communications from Birds Canada.
Local Sign-Up:
Some participants register directly with their local count circle rather than through the online form. In these cases:
Count leaders may add your contact information to our CBC data entry platform to maintain accurate participation records over time.
This information is used exclusively for CBC-specific communications
You will never be automatically added to other Audubon distribution lists.Your local leader may share information about how to opt in to additional communications, but this is always your choice.
