Christmas Bird counts are organized locally by an individual or group of volunteer leaders for each count circle. A variety of count circle leadership roles exist and each role plays an important part in organizing, conducting, and supporting the count, whether in the field, behind the scenes, or at a broader regional level. Not every circle will have all of these roles, and some circles may combine roles or create additional volunteer leadership positions to fit their local context, capacity, and scale.
